Janco, Marcel
(1895-1984)
   Israeli painter. He was born in Bucharest. Early in his career he was involved in Dadaism (http://dadako.narod.ru/autoritets.htm) in Paris, but he left the movement and returned to Romania, where he worked as an architect. In 1941 he settled in Palestine and began to paint works that reflect the colours of the landscape and its picturesque aspects. In 1947 he was a founder member of the New Horizons group. Later he established Ein Hod, an artists' village outside Haifa.
